Girl Scout vest

This may not seem like a big deal to some people… but I had put off sewing Simone’s badges on her vest for 1 1/2 years! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Talk about procrastination!!

My new year’s resolution for 2018 is to do things that I find hard.

For some reason, the Girl Scout vest intimidated me!

I was worried I would do it all-wrong…

…but, I decided now was the time- with Cookie Booths coming up!

So, I pulled out the vest and asked for help! I was confused about badge and patch placement – yes there is a difference between the two!

After I pinned everything in it’s proper place, I bought invisible thread and sat down with my trusty sewing machine!

1 1/2 hours later – ALL DONE! ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

I love bling on my jean jacket… (this picture is a bit old- my hair is longer and I have more pins)

The point is now I want to sew cool patches onto my jacket and be all hip and cool like Simone!

I know different parks and museums have patches and maybe when I see a special bird I can get a patch to represent it!

… oh the possibilities! I realize this may make me an even bigger nerd- but hey- at least I’ll be a nerd with style! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Your daughter has lots of badges. Well done to her and well done you for sewing them all on!

  2. Great sewing job and applause for overcoming your procrastination! I’m the worlds best procrastinator, so I know what you have been going through. I have a quilt that I need to finish quilting. It was supposed to have been a Christmas gift 8 or 9 years ago for my nephew. My goal is to finish it by June so I can give it to him and his wife on their 5th wedding anniversary. Since I haven’t gotten it out yet, that deadline is looking a little iffy already. LOL

    • LOL! It would make a beautiful gift… now go- get it out of the procrastinatorโ€™s closet and get to work! (Was that inspiring? LOL) Itโ€™s weird how a project can be put on the back burner for so long that the use of doing it becomes so much harder then the actual task of doing it? I hope you do find your inspiration and Iโ€™d love to see pics!!!

      • Thank you. That was very inspirational! LOL I am sort-of snowed in for a couple of days, so I may try to get it out and at least get it set up. I had been trying to quilt on a hand held loop and it would take 30 minutes just to get set up to work on it. If I only had an hour or so, that was useless. Someone told me about a small quilting frame that she had set up so she could quilt when she didn’t have a lot of time. I finally found one and was so excited to get going. That was two years ago and it is still in the box!!! I just have to get over the hump of getting started again, and I’ll be okay. The other “problem” is that I want to make a teddy bear for my new step great-grandson (I’m really NOT that old) and take it with me to FL in a couple of weeks, so I have to get that done too. I’ll see if I can figure out how to put a picture in the comments and let you see it.

      • Iโ€™ve never quilted by hand- just machine! Setting things up usually does take so long and then I hate putting things away because who knows when it will get out a again! My sewing machine is still at the dinning room table because I still have projects I am working on LOL! Itโ€™ll stay there till hubby finally asks for it to be moved ๐Ÿ˜‰
        – A teddy bear would be sweet… ๐Ÿป… so many choices!!

      • I want you to know that you really did inspire me. I put the quilting rack together and actually quilted for about 2 hours yesterday. I was so proud. Hope you get all of your projects completed before hubby gets tired of having the sewing machine as a dinner guest.

      • I checked, and I would have to upgrade my wordpress subscription to be able to add a plugin which allows photos to be added to my comments. So, in lieu of that, I’ll figure out a way to include it in one of my Tippy posts soon. Stay tuned.
