A wild walk in the city

Eli and his cousin needed some outside time while we were visiting at an aunt’s house… In the city… Next to highways and gas stations and firework stands.

We had to walk across a vast barren parking lot – but…
… Behind the parking lot was a bit of untamed wilderness…Just enough for two little boys to explore together!

Sticks were immediately found!Β

An entire ant colony under a trashcan lid.

Velvety Seed Pods

A hideout for Ninjas!

Eli thought these flower buds looked like mini-hotdogs!

Luke’s flower looks like the Truffula Tree from the Lorax.

I found a lacy leaf in the midst of decomposing…

As long as there are plants growing- there are sure to be natural treasures hidden among the leaves! Don’t forget to take the time to help your children discover them 🌸
