Playing the Hot Lava Game at Elephant Rocks

Elephant Rock State Park has giant granite boulders everywhere that are just sticking out of the ground!

It’s the perfect playground for playing an advanced game of The Ground is Hot Lava.

Sometimes we used logs to help us cross from rock to rock…

… Or we jumped from tree to tree…

And sometimes I just ferried the kids across…

Towards the end of our game, we discovered… A wild honeybee hive!!🐝

We recognized the sound of hundreds of bees from when we helped a friend set a new bee swarm.

Seeing the bees was an unexpected delight!!😊

P.S. I hope everyone has a WILD Earth Day!

  1. Looks like everyone had a great time. Love your posts. I think part of it is seeing your kids having such a good time in nature – without their noses stuck in an electronic device.

    • Thank you! Getting the kids outside and making nature enjoyable for the kids is what motivated me to start my blog! Hopefully we’re helping to form lifelong habits!!
