A tour of the Fire Department

Simone’s Girl Scout troop went to visit the Ferguson Fire Department… And the boys were lucky enough to get to tag along! 🚒

(It was actually quite hilarious to see the boys running around the parking lot “scared” of all the girls!)

I let them have their fun before I reined them in and reminded them no funny business in the Fire Station!

The first order of business on the tour was a first-aid class!

The boys sat way in the back… They were so happy not be sitting next to any girls!

The class was lead by some Fire-Fighters and some Paramedics… who were AMAZING!!

When they started talking about broken bones, Eddie mentioned he had broken his arm before (he fell out of a tree).

Eddie was then called to the front to demonstrate how a first-aid splint would be done to a patient, in the case of a broken bone.

We were told that most anything can work as a splint- as long as the bone is kept immobile… However a pillow works best!

Simone got called on to demonstrate a leg  splint.

We also got a tour of the living spaces within the fire station.

The Fireman’s Pole was a favorite!

But nothing really compares to the trucks!

Thank you to the Ferguson Fire Fighters and Christian Hospital Paramedics for the tour!! The kids loved it 🚒🚑

  2. How fun! We recently did a tour of our local fire department with our co-op group. It cracks me up how much of a hit those trucks are even with the older kids.

    • We were there for almost 2 hours! They kept asking the kids if they wanted to see more… and of course they did! I had never been on a firehouse tour- so I was just as thrilled! 🚒
